I was diagnosed with MS in 2002 and Fibromyalgia in 2011. Many symptoms are shared by both diseases. Regardless of the name of a condition, you need to learn how to live with it and to stop it from drowning your creativity. This is no easy task. I strive to prevent my condition from having total control of my life and my creativity.

1. Start small
Do not expect that you can work on your craft for 8 hours a day. Some days, you may be lucky to work for 2-3 hours and you need to be content with that.

2. Limit your expectations
Planning ahead with these illnesses must be allowed to have backup plans. If today is not possible, than tomorrow may be what you are aiming for. Do not chastise yourself for not achieving your short-term goals. But at the same time, DO NOT QUIT!

Fibromyalgia

1 min read
I would like to set up a group for Artists suffering with Fibromyalgia. It is hard to be creative when dealing with pain and exhaustion day in and day out. The worst part of this nasty daily experience is that your mind just keeps on plugging away with ideas for all your creative outlets but the body just can't keep up at the pace you did prior to the onset of this disease.

Are there artists here at Deviant that suffer from MS or FM? I would like to know. I would like to ask them how they deal with this and keep from circling the drain.
